THE SECRETS OF STARPOINT MOUNTAIN by Bill Albert
THE SHADOWS OF STARPOINT MOUNTAIN by Bill Albert
Since the last Dragon War the true history of Starpoint Mountain has been lost.
So high that no one has ever reached its peak, or at least lived long enough to
tell anyone, many theories and guesses have been made about its secrets. Soon, a
young girl graduating from a hidden school will begin investigating rumors of a
possible rebellion against the benevolent Giant Lords. She will fight skeleton warriors,
befriend noble dwarves, and defend her life against the wicked aquilus elves as
she follows a trail that will lead her from the forest to the northern ice fields
and to the dark heart of the mountain itself. There she will face the truth about
everything she believes in.

Reviews
FROM THE CEDAR RAPIDS (IA) GAZETTE:
Bill Albert of Amana has self-published "The Secrets of Starpoint Mountain." His
character, Gallif, is a 17-year old girl getting ready to graduate from a hidden
school who decides to take on a mysterious, richly imaginative land. This fantasy
boasts lots of twists and turns and should appeal to gamers of all ages.
FROM LULU:
Starpoint Mountain
This book has it all. It has a smart, tough, resourceful heroine in Gallif. She
meets and deals with lots of amazing creatures. There are suprising twists throughout
the story. At one point I thought I knew where the book was going, but I was completely
wrong. I'll be very interested to see where Gallif's brave spirit takes her in the
next book.
Amazing book! by Mark Lambert
The Secrets of Starpoint Mountain is one of the best fantasy books I have read in
ages! Gallif is a great heroine. I was hooked as she struggles against her preconceived
notions and manages to overcome obstacles. I'll just leave it at that, because I
don't want to reveal any of the wonderful discoveries you'll find when you read
this book. This book is a MUST READ for fantasy fans! I hope Bill Albert writes
a sequel -- I can't wait to read more!
Starpoint Montain by Per Malm
Bill Albert has written a story that puts a new twist on the familiar fantasy setting.
Gallif, the main character, must overcome her fear and hatred of elves to fight
them in a war to stop a god. Albert writes tense and riveting action scenes and
spins a yarn that reminds me of Thomas Covenant and The Riddle of Stars books. I
was disapointed that Gallif didn't grow very much as a character but the ending
set up for a sequel and it will be interesting to see how she deals with the fallout
from her actions.
FROM AMAZON:
By J. Surowiecki
I don't know what that other reviewer got, but I had no problems whatsoever with
my copy of "The Secrets of Starpoint Mountain." I received this book as a gift and
had an enormous amount of fun reading it. I hadn't read a fantasy novel in such
a long time and this certainly rekindled my interest in the genre as a whole! "The
Secrets of Starpoint Mountain" has quite a lot going for it, namely in the form
of its strong and well thought out heroine, Gallif. The reader, along with Gallif,
will encounter elves on both sides of the forces of good and evil, skeletons, as
well as the mysterious Giant Lords. Fantasy fans of all ages will find a lot to
like about this novel. I eagerly look forward to the continuation of this series.
It will be quite interesting to watch all the characters develop as the story progresses.
Bravo, Monsieur Albert. Bravo!
FROM BARNES AND NOBLE:
I loved this book!
I especially loved the main character, Gallif. She's 17, my age, and she's smart
and tough and can stand up with the best of them. At the same time that she's fighting
skeleton warriors, undead monsters and hostile shadows she still has the same temptations
and distractions that real life teenagers do. She's not a perfect person. It's very
easy to connect with her and I look forward to reading more.
I can't wait to read it again.
I enjoyed the new world that this story takes place in. Some of the things here
don't work the same way they do in other swords and sorcery stories. It's hard to
put down with lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing. The cliffhangers are
dynamite.
What a fantastic novel!
When I was given this book as a gift I didn't know what to expect, but after reading
it I will be much more open to unfamiliar authors. I thought this book was amazing
and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading. 5 stars!!!!!
It was a great read!!! by spike2one
A very fast paced and intrigueing sojourne in to fantasy literature. The twists
and turns keep you reading and the normal heartfelt realism of the characters and
their personalities fills you with anticipation for the next opportunity to crack
the cover. truly looking forward to the next edition!
Excellent read from a New Author! by Randy Kinkor
While normally I do not read alot of Fantasy books other than the Lord of the Rings
series, I found this book to be a very good read. I thought his pacing and style
were very good. I will definitely have to watch for the sequel
Startpoint a Mountain of a read..... by Bruce Foust
I finished the book yesterday, I feel it is worth the reading time. Bill did good
with this book. Bill did a few plot twists for a very proper change of pace for
you to enjoy. I have never read a fantasy Sci fi book before. But, this to may change.
Try book as a change of pace read.
